greatest film ever: 'Blue', by Jarman

Derek Jarman's "Blue" is very easily my top film of all time.

such a haunting, beautiful masterpiece.
Of wasting away,
Depression,
Grief,
Disability, Disease,
outsideness,
(im not going to use the bullshit american fucking word "queer",
those yankee assholes have completely captured an innocent group of
marginalized folks and have subverted their narratives towards
their own omnious, sick selfish ends.
You can never trust an american,
because lying is the national pastime)

Jarman breaks every rule.
show dont tell.
Cinematography.
how to tell a story

instead it's told in such a haunting, macabre way
whispers from the wind.
traces of the silt
pain, loss, impending death.
the world beyond ours
faith
memory
what is left for people like us.
the overwhelming despair of living
yet still not wanting to die.

Man, what a great fucking movie.
and what a great fucking director.

may you rest in peace derek.
im grateful to have borne witness to your story.
thank you for making our world a meaningful place to live in.
the world never did you right.
but we can still do you some justice, in how we choose to remember you.
to derek, in this life and the next.
