Art and Design are fucking useless

There's always a tendency for a certain
class threshold to enact change in two toothless ways:
Art+Design.

Often this can be comical:
The power of art in fundamentally changing reality,
is quite nil.
It's often the case that its a tool for class
manipulation: a certain class sees within powerful
art an ability to manipulate the rest with vagueisms:
vagueisms of revolution, vagueisms of organization,
vagueisms of oppression, vagueisms of, the worst, resistance.
through these vagueisms, the audience is deprived of what
it needs the most: a clear understanding of things.
No amount of "marxist media installations" can replace
actual organization, leaflets, educational content etc.
However, resistance, at least after specific class
thresholds, has become a very crummy commodity.

the 'power of design' is more insidious.
there is a strange undercurrent in design vocabulary.
'designers change the world.'
'designers are empathetic'.
'we need human-centered professionals'.
How does one come to the conclusion that humane-ness is
rewarded and sought after in a deeply cruel world?
how does one think design has this transformative capacity
when all it does is make trinkets for the bourgeois?
insulations, walls, bubbles, thick mufflers, the likes?

how does one believe in the social transformation of
'the world' when one only chooses to both listen and speak
to a very very very very very very very small part of it?

art and design do not 'transform' the world.
they dont remake the world in their image.
At least not in the way artists and designers imagine.
even philosophy has more credibility than these two.
at best, they play a supporting role.

it is wise for artists and designers to
acknowledge that fact and its reality.

Art and design are fucking useless.
they make you money and bring you image.
and its ok.

but stop the koolaid and huffing the glue.
